OWWF Bavaria lays foundation for cooperation with Westminster Russia Forum
with speech of Executive Vice President Hermann Pönisch
On December 11, 2020, Executive Vice President Hermann Pönisch was invited to give a short speech> at the "Westminster Russia Forum Digital Multilateral Conference - Connecting East and West". Both associations thus confirm their mutual membership.
Over 45 speakers from twelve countries including USA and Australia sent messages of understanding and cooperation with the Russian Federation. The experts from academia, politics, business, law, culture, sports and media focused on a constructive, pragmatic and solution-oriented approach.
The Westminster Russia Forum London is proud to have brought the Embassy of the Russian Federation in London and that of the United Kingdom in Moscow into a joint forum after many years of silence. His Excellency Andrei Kelin, Ambassador of Russia to the UK, spoke about the readiness for normalization of relations. Her Excellency Ambassador Deborah Bronnert sent from Moscow her best wishes for the success of the conference. This is to be seen as a clear sign of rapprochement. Representatives of partner organizations of WRF London, such as Dr. Alexander Rahr and Martin Hoffmann from the German Russian Forum Berlin, Dr. Karin von Bismarck from the Wirtschaftsclub Russland Berlin as well as Markus Stender from the Austrian Russian Friendship Society Vienna spoke.
Universities from Serbia, Austria, Russia, Great Britain and Italy were also represented. Speakers from the business world included Dr. Andreas Knaul from Rödl&Partner and Philipp Gudgeon, CEO of the Schneider Group.
Concrete steps of cooperation between OWWF Bavaria and WRF London are planned, among others, in the field of town twinning. Joint conferences with WRF London are also on the agenda. We also see great potential in cultural and economic exchange.
