"Strengthening the own energy resources through sector coupling and energy storage"
Question to the mayor of Fuchsthal: ‘How did Fuchstal manage this energy transition?’ He replied: ‘The crucial question is very easy to answer: we were naive, courageous, needed the income and had very good advisors (engineering firm, lawyer, tax consultant).’
The energy transition in this small Upper Bavarian community of around 4,250 inhabitants has been reported on in many news programmes by ARD, ZDF, BR and other radio and television stations. The current Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Habeck, recently came to switch on three further community wind turbines; four turbines have been running since 2016.
The results of these efforts will be shown to us:
Citizens‘ wind farm with 7 wind turbines
3 large photovoltaic systems and a lot of roof-mounted PV
1 biogas plant (2012 - for district heating supply)
Linking electricity and heat: surplus electricity is converted into heat:
‘heat pot’ (power to heat) - a 5,000 m3 water storage tank
and a battery storage as a buffer
