Bulgaria was and still is underestimated. After the end of communist rule, there were major economic upheavals, large industrial companies were closed, many well-educated younger people moved from the countryside to the city, especially to Sofia, or left the country altogether. Despite limited opportunities due to an educational infrastructure that is not considered modern, good schooling, vocational training and academic education are showing great success. Start-ups with interesting innovative products are increasingly emerging.
Bulgaria is now on the verge of the next step towards even deeper integration with the EU. Full accession to the Schengen area, but above all the planned introduction of the euro in the middle of this year, will bring new opportunities for the dynamic development of the Bulgarian economy, both for domestic companies and for investment partners from the euro area.
At our event last October at our member HT-Group, we firmly stated that innovation is the decisive prerequisite for economic growth, sustainable development and the acquisition of new markets. In his report to the EU Commission, Mario Draghi highlighted why Europe is at risk of falling behind: too little investment, too little innovation, too much bureaucracy. There is a need for action and action is being taken.
The new opportunities for Bulgaria and thus also for our economy are being highlighted. Bulgarian companies and start-ups with groundbreaking innovations are being presented.
Bulgaria is also important to us because of its strategic geopolitical position. Let us seize the opportunities for cooperation that will benefit our economy and strengthen Bulgaria's economy. In doing so, we will also achieve greater security.
The Bulgarian companies present come from the IT, medical and aviation sectors. You can find out more in advance via the links provided in the programme.
If you are interested, you can experience the innovations in the medical field live on Monday, 10 March 2025. Further information and registration can be found on the homepage of our partner association TWI Institute.
Experience a modern, innovative Bulgaria.
