2017 is the German-Russian Year of Youth Exchange, initiated by the foreign ministers of Russia and Germany, Sergei Lavrov and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who have also taken over the patronage for the year. In this context, the first Bavarian-Russian Youth Culture Forum will take place in Munich on 18 October, initiated by the Association Russia-Germany (President Olga Zinoviev) and the foundation "Russkij Mir" (Vice President Anatoli Blinov) and carried out in cooperation with the German partners OstWestWirtschaftsForum Bayern (President Eberhard Sinner, Vice President Hermann Pönisch) and the Bayerische Ost-Gesellschaft (First Chairman Iris Trübswetter).

At the one-day conference, the status of the Bavarian-Russian youth exchange will be determined and specifically examined in the cultural field. This year, the focus will be on film and theatre, while in 2018 the focus will be on music and literature.

The Forum is intended to create a lasting platform for direct contact between young people, thereby strengthening dialogue and understanding between our societies. The aim is to promote a positive dynamic of cooperation and contacts between civil societies in the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Especially in politically difficult times, youth exchanges can strengthen a peaceful coexistence of the growing generation with positive, creative but also critical discussions. Cultural achievements are reflected in the inter-societal context, and media coverage is checked through personal inspection. This has a peacekeeping effect in the best sense of the word.
