Bridges instead of barriers
Even in politically difficult times, the OWWF relies on good relations with Russia. A symposium on Russian-German economic relations was held in Munich together with the Russian-German Association.
"We want to build bridges instead of barriers," stressed OWWF President, former Minister of State Eberhard Sinne. State Secretary for Economic Affairs Franz Pschierer pointed out that relations between Russia and Bavaria are still very close. This was also confirmed by the delegation visit of Prime Minister Seehofer.
Although economic exchange has stagnated somewhat due to the worsening economic situation in Russia and, to some extent, sanctions, positive trends can be seen. The bureaucratic burden associated with the sanctions is a particular hindrance. Pschierer therefore hopes that the sanctions will soon be superfluous. Economically they harmed both sides.
The former head of the state chancellery, Sinner, pointed out the importance of the exchange between the two countries. However, this should not be limited to goods. "We want to make a contribution to people's meeting,"says Sinner.
As a continuation of the construction of the Peace Chapel Rossoschka in the former Stalingrad, the OWWF will especially deepen relations with Volgograd. The OWWF, for example, has campaigned for the inauguration of the new FIFA World Cup stadium in the former Stalingrad with a junior international match between Russia and Germany.
