Bernhard Seidenath continued: the aim was to implement the findings of science, whereby it was always clear that everyone was in a learning process. The measures were and are still being adapted to the current circumstances, whereby it is certainly not always easy for all of us to understand and implement them. In the main part of his presentation, he dealt with biotechnology, which is particularly promoted in Bavaria. Here is a summary of the presentation.

Julia Valier, Vice-President of the BHA Bavarian Health Association, gave a brief presentation. The BHA is mainly working on the fields of medical personnel and the possibilities of medical treatment for guests from abroad. The pandemic has hit both areas hard.

The TWI Institute was presented by Vice-President Hermann Pönisch, who is also the Managing Director of the TWI. The Institute has existed for 41 years and is active in the research of holistic approaches in the therapy of diseases in the spirit of its founder Dr. Karl Daxl.

In his keynote speech, Prof. Franz Bernstetter, also Vice President of the BHA and health economist at the Technical University of Rosenheim, spoke about the direct and indirect costs of the pandemic.

Dr Peter Schleicher, immunology and holistic therapy advocate, advisory board member at TWI, explained the course of the pandemic from the perspective of a medical practitioner. In addition to the generally held view that only vaccination would lead to control of the virus, he drew attention to some interesting studies. Details here.

Until May of this year, our President Eberhard Sinner was also Chairman of the District Association of the BRK in the Main-Spessart district. In this function, there was of course a lot to organise during the pandemic. In his report, he shows the efforts that were necessary on the ground to keep the disease at bay.

In the concluding round of talks, Ms Roxana Boboruta from Turku Severin, Romania, Ms Maria Degtiarenko, Director of the Bavarian House in Odessa, Ukraine, Dr. med. Ilja Lasarow, Sofia, Bulgaria, reported on the current status and the measures taken by the authorities in their respective countries.

Finally, Dr Hermann Salmhofer, virologist, Salzburg, spoke about his experiences. He gave a brief overview of the current studies. From his experience, he drew particular attention to the fact that vitamin D levels (below 30ng/ml blood) usually lead to a more severe course of covid disease. Like the previous speaker, Dr Schleicher, he therefore pleaded for special attention to be paid to this.
