Bulgaria - quo vadis?
After World War II Bulgaria came under Soviet influence and became part of the Warsaw Pact. The end of the communist era was marked by free elections in 1990. In 2004 the country joined NATO. The economy boomed, although domestic and foreign investors and urban upper classes benefited more than the average citizen. Rural areas often suffer from high unemployment and, unfortunately, corruption.
Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007 and is one of the countries with the lowest foreign debt. At this meeting we want to learn more about Bulgaria, a country that deserves a lot of interest from Bavaria, especially in the context of the Danube Strategy.
We are competently informed at first hand by Bulgaria's diplomatic representatives at the Consulate General in Munich, e.g. What is the current situation in Bulgaria? What do the citizens think about Europe? What opportunities are there for the Bavarian economy?
