Vienna Economic Forum "Economy meets Politics" under the patronage of the Austrian Federal Chancellor H.E. Sebastian Kurz
On November 19 2018 the 15th Jubilee Vienna Economic Forum under the patronage of Austrian Federal Chancellor H.E. Mr. Sebastian Kurz took place at the Ceremonial Hall at the House of Engineers, the Palais Eschenbach in Vienna’s first district.
The Vienna Future Dialogue 2018 “Economy meets Politics”, embedded in the official agenda of the Austrian presidency of the Council of the European Union, hosted illustrious guests and reprWestern Balkans. Additional to the statements of the prime ministers of Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro on the status quo of developments and ambitions to join the EU, the European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel emphasised the importance of increasing local digitisation and IT education. In the course of implementing the EU’s Digital Agenda a memorandum for establishing a digital ICT school has been signed by EC Gabriel and the respective parties.
During the course of the afternoon session it has been agreed that fundamental economic and infrastructural enhancements are necessary to provide strong, reliable and long-lasting connections within Europe, especially since China’s importance as a trading partner with the Western Balkans is growing. Representatives of regional and European politics and economics who discussed the strengthening of regional cooperation and investments as a crucial part of European integration.
The event closed with the annual award ceremony of the Vienna Economic Forum. Among the awardees was H.E. Dr. Liljana Pawlowa, minister of the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the European Union for Bulgaria’s successful efforts regarding the improvement of local economic cooperation.
